great wall
the great wall is every bit as magnificent as people say it is. it’s the one tourist attraction that can honestly take my breath away. we hiked 10km up and down these ridiculous steps from jinshanling to simatai, and never got bored of the view. i would highly recommend the experience to anyone traveling to beijing. it is one of the rare segments of the wall that has not been restored; each brick is a remnant from the ming dynasty (1300s). as such, parts of it are quite dangerous and it’s not really tourist-friendly. the entire time we hiked we saw only a handful of people (which was what made the experience so awesome), and they all looked like hardcore hikers. they glared at me with my chucks and leggings.
these step-less sections were scary.
me and yanna; crumbling bricks

yup, we hiked all that and much much more. we passed a total of 32 watch towers.

sorry i’ve been so absent! it’s hard to catch up once you’re behind. life is coming at me super fast; i can’t believe there are only three weeks til christmas! trying to enjoy the last few moments with some friends who are leaving beijing at the end of the year :(

wow! jealous!
